FESYO Newsletter – May 2008
Dear Friends,
This year started with a fantastic concert held at the beautiful Victorian Eastbourne Town Hall on Saturday evening of 5 January with ESYO playing Bernstein’s West Side Story Symphonic Suite and Sibelius Symphony No 2. The atmosphere in the oversubscribed Town Hall was electric and the concert was loved by all.
Looking forward to this summer, the Orchestra will be playing Rachmaninov’s popular 2nd Symphony at the Madeleine Church in Paris on Sunday 27 July 2008 and at De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill on Tuesday 29 July 2008. You are all invited to both concerts and to a party afterwards in De La Warr Pavilion restaurant upstairs.
You are also invited to our Pizza and Quiz night on Thursday 4th September 2008 – more details overleaf. Do join us if you can for what promises to be a fun evening.
The Friends Committee has grown and the current members of your committee are listed overleaf. Please feel free to approach any of the committee members with any suggestions to maintain orchestra commitment and interest. We would also welcome any ideas or contacts you have for obtaining sponsorship or grants for the orchestra either specifically for the 2009 tour or for more general funding. If you can help, do please drop me a note with your contact details at the East Sussex Music Service address below.
Finally, please find attached a revised timetable for future events. Thank you so much for your continuing support - it is invaluable. We look forward to seeing you, your family and friends at the forthcoming events.
Best Wishes,
Mustak Damani

We would like to take the opportunity to add email contact details to our database of members so that we can email the newsletter to members who would like this. This will help keep our administrative costs to a minimum leaving us more to invest in the students and the orchestra.
